Daily Video Rundown

Michael Burrows

Just two starts into the season, it looks like Michael Burrows is picking right back up where he left off going back to 2021.

The former 11th round pick made his second start of the season Friday night against the Richmond Flying Squirrels, throwing four shutout innings while striking out six. He threw 57 pitches, 38 for strikes, and has still yet to allow an extra-base hit in his two outings.

On his way to the six strikeouts, Burrows kept batters off balance with his fastball and curveball, getting several swing and misses with each pitch.

You can see him start of this at-bat with a couple of curveballs, getting a called strike on one and the other being barely fouled off.

Omar Cruz

The Curve went with Omar Cruz as a piggyback once again, this time coming in after Burrows was finished with his outing.

While it’s still a longer stint out of the bullpen, there may be something that agrees with Cruz as a reliever. He got roughed up a bit in his first outing, but still struck out four in 2 1/3 innings pitched.

Now in his second outing, the lefty recorded seven strikeouts in four innings against Richmond. He threw 60 pitches, 42 of which were strikes and he came out dealing, striking out the first four batters he faced.

Tahnaj Thomas

Adjusting to his new role as a reliever, Tahnaj Thomas made his third appearance of the season Friday night, recording the final three outs of the team’s win.

He did allow a home run, and gave up some very hard hit balls that were caught in the outfield. Also shoutout to Tucupita Marcano for making that catch in the outfield to end the game.

Bonus: Liover Peguero

The shortstop went 2-for-5 on the night, with a single and a home run. The two hits came in his final at-bats, as he struggled a little bit to start the game offensively.
