Daily Video Rundown: Ji-Hwan Bae, Brendt Citta, Mason Martin

Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.

Daily Video Rundown

Ji-Hwan Bae

Sometimes you get use to the speed of Ji-Hwan Bae and his system leading 10 stolen bases and then he reminds you of it with one swing of the bat. Bae recorded a triple in game two of Thursday’s doubleheader, and that’s after he sat and watched the ball for a second to see if it was going to be fair.

Once he took off, it wasn’t long before he was at third safely. It was Bae’s second double of the season, and 11th extra-base hit overall.

Brendt Citta

The former Kansas Jayhawk opened up the scoring for the Altoona Curve, with his second home run at Double-A this year, third overall. Despite jumping out to the 1-0 lead, Altoona couldn’t hold it and they lost 5-4.

Mason Martin

Martin snapped out of an early May slump (2-for-32 in first seven games of the month) the only way he knows how, with his power. Martin his his sixth home run of the season, one of 22 extra-base hits, on Thursday for Indianapolis.

Oneil Cruz

Cruz continued his personal assault on the baseball, hitting this ball 112 mph off the bat. He’s still not really hitting for the average you want to see, but he’s walking way more and starting to make consistent violent contact.

Nick Gonzales

I highlighted how it looked like Nick Gonzales was starting to adjust and driving breaking pitches after a rough stretch against Somerset. He continued his power surge this week against Richmond, recording two more extra-base hits, including his fourth home run of the season.

Anthony Murphy
Anthony Murphy
Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
