Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.
Daily Video Rundown
Oneil Cruz
It seems almost impossible for Oneil Cruz to do anything normal. If he’s going to make a play, it’s going to be to the extreme. Whether it’s an 120 mph base hit, or his five RBI game on Sunday, the guy is a human highlight reel.
Have a day, @OneilCruz4.

Cruz hit his third home run of the season, and totaled five RBIs in Indianapolis’ win on Sunday. Before that he drove in two on this base hit past the second baseman.

He also played in the outfield for consecutive days for the first time in his career, making this catch on the warning track.
Pretty nice catch by Oneil Cruz if you ask us, so please, ask us. pic.twitter.com/qgKkkH2vjf

Mason Martin
There’s a good chance if Martin gets a hit, it’s going for extra-bases. Of his 29 hits he has recorded this year, 19 of them have gone for extra-bases. He hit his fifth home run of the season on Sunday.
Martin got all of that one. 💥 pic.twitter.com/yjfgq9ycVF

Andres Alvarez
The 25-year-old from Washington State continues to force his way into the lineup, as Alvarez his fourth home run of the season in Altoona’s loss. He also doubled among three total hits on the day.
.@and6alv continues to have himself a day, his 3rd hit is a 2-run blast!
It's a 12-8 game! pic.twitter.com/VDbfvYnXqf

He also has shown to be pretty good with the glove.

Brendt Citta
Look out on the hillside! @Bcitta10 is at the plate! pic.twitter.com/G1IJyf5jHz

Citta hit his first home run since rejoining the Curve, and second overall on the season. He’s struggled this season with an .188 average, but has made it counted with six of his 10 hits going for extra-bases.
I have not seen anyone mention Jacob Gonzalez since he moved to Greensboro. The guy that was tearing up the FSL, but was old for the level is now in high A, and is 12 for 19 for a .632 batting average. His OPS is 1.930. He has 3 HRs since moving up. He has only played 5 games, but he has multi-hit games in each one. He is having the type of season his dad had in 2001. Of course his dad did it in Arizona. Let’s hope this is the new and improved Jacob Gonzalez.
A promotion and a wRC+ over 400 will create some buzz.
If yoshi doesn’t turn it around by June 1st I would have to think Martin takes his place. Guy is hitting well. I really hope this 5 rbi game gets Cruz going. Very concerned with him and Gonzales starts.
Come on now, everyone in the organization knows Cruz just isn’t ready yet. He’ll need some additional time in the outfield and they have to see if he can play first and maybe catch a few games before any decisions can be made. Oh and his batting average will have to be at least .300 before any promotion can be made. Patience. Patience.
I for one am sick of being patient especially with what the Pirates are throwing out on the field in Pittsburgh. 😠
BTW, is Henry Davis hurt? I can’t find anything about it anywhere, but he hasn’t played in the last few days?
Honest question…is it that you think O’Neil Cruz would actually succeed right now in the big leagues or that you will be happy to see him called up and get his teeth kicked in by pitchers that’ll pick his immature approach apart?
I was being sarcastic, but since you asked. He did pretty well last year in the couple of games he played, but honestly I don’t know how he would do if called up now nor does anyone else.
Davis is bruised up from his last hit batter at the beginning of last week.
Probably not catch because the umpires wouldn’t be able to see over him but 1rst base is a good idea. The world’s ready for another 6’07 lefthanded power hitting 1rst baseman. I’ve seen a couple good ones play.
He belongs in the OF, I’d prefer CF, but LF is fine because half the games are in PNC. He’s super athletic, fast & great arm, not to mention he’ll incredible range in the OF as soon as he learns how to play it & that needs to be done @ Indy.
His attitude has to change also before promoting him. His future is in the OF & he has to accept it & even embrace it before he gets to Pittsburgh. You have to earn it in every way.
But nothing major according to John.
