Osvaldo Bido was perfect through three innings tonight, then things went south in a hurry, as he gave up three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. Indianapolis had plenty of base runners, but they couldn’t come up with any big hits, going 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Their only run scored on a stolen base (Oneil Cruz’s tenth) when St Paul made two errors on the play. Cruz had two singles. Ji-hwan Bae had a single and a walk. Starting Pitcher: Po-Yu Chen (0-3, 5.40)

  • Final Line:  5 IP, 3 H, 5 ER, 3 BB, 7 SO

Notable Performances:

Sergio Campana 0-for-2, BB, HBP, SB

Alexander Mojica 0-for-3, BB

Game Recap:

Po-Yu Chen looked solid through four innings, then ran into trouble in the fifth due to a pair of walks, which led to a game-changing grand slam. He allowed three hits, three walks and he struck out seven batters, giving him 40 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. Errors hurt any chance of a comeback, as Dante Mendoza gave up two unearned runs in his one inning and Yunior Thibo allowed an unearned run in his two innings. Jack Hartman allowed a run in the ninth, as Bradenton lost 9-2. Deivis Nadal played his first game since joining Bradenton on Tuesday. He hit a double in his first at-bat. Brenden Dixon drove in both runs with an eighth inning triple. Sergio Campana lost his mini hit streak, but he reached base on a walk and a hit-by-pitch, and he stole his eighth base.

Juan Jerez returned from the 7-day IL today. Luis Peralta was put on the developmental list. I assume he will be back either Sunday or next Tuesday for his next start.
