Prospect Watch: Big Game for Nick Gonzales in Altoona Win

The FCL Pirates were supposed to be off today, but a rain out for the second game of yesterday’s doubleheader, means they have to make the game up today. Even the time of the game is listed as TBD, but my guess would be a noon start. The FCL season wraps up on Tuesday. Both of the DSL Pirates teams are off today. Their season also wraps on Tuesday. Altoona has to complete a suspended game from last night that is 2-2 in the seventh. That will be followed by the regularly scheduled game with Quinn Priester on the mound. Indianapolis has an early afternoon start time.

Termarr Johnson went 0-for-3 with a walk, leaving him 1-for-12 early in his career. Jesus Castillo went 2-for-3, giving him a .361 average that is second in the league.

The DSL Pirates Gold completed a suspended game from July 27th and won 4-3 over the Angels. Here’s the boxscore, though I’ll note the stats here reverted back to the date that the game started, so none of the numbers match up to current stats, including the team record.

I thought Tamarr Johnson would come out at this level and just tear it up. He’s supposed to hit in his sleep.

jon6er

What happened with Abraham Gutierrez. He hasn’t played since the 13th?

Wilbur Miller

Can’t be anything big. They have only two catchers on the roster and he’s one.

leefieux

Ugh….Jack K’s two more times and his OPS is now under .700. But, all you see on Twitter is that we need to bring I’m back up.

Hopefully, Gonzo can keep this up. But, I’ll believe it when he knocks his K rate down. His one out was a K.

dbsteel

Mitchell is the guy that should be up. He is the better looking hitter.

leefieux

Both he and TSwag should be up. Let them play the last 6 weeks. Whaddaya got to lose?

Wilbur Miller

According to Stumpf, Gorski should get back into games this year.

agent00

i saw somewhere that he was ahead of schedule. still surprised to hear that

Wilbur Miller

Even if he’s just DHing and under orders not to run all out or something, it’d be nice if he could face some live pitching. I def didn’t expect to see him any more.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Burrows cracks Baseball America Top 100!

hoffmark83

I’ll be more excited when he cracks the Pirates rotation.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

7 games, 3 with set game times lol going to have to refresh overall scoreboard all day

Wilbur Miller

MiLB.com still says the FCL game is in Port Charlotte. I’m wondering whether I should tell the players here at Pirate City that they’re missing the game.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

I feel like I’m watching the FCL game. Got my hands on Ercolani’s U18 start for Italy.

Wilbur Miller

Mad google skills.

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

Nahhhh. John had retweeted a clip someone posted. I mentioned I wished I had video of Ercolani, and the guy responded (the link I posted above) with the Youtube video

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

DSL Gold game off and running

Bucs'N'Pucks (Jeff Reed)

And upon further inspection, this game appears to be when Axiel Plaz apparently got hurt. Completion of July 27th game, which would’ve been his last appearance, and he was pulled after an AB in bottom of 2nd.

chappy

Thank you! I was following him pretty closely and then he just disappeared. I suppose eventually we’ll find out what happened…

AdministrativeSky236

Good find! He’s been one of several guys lost during the season
