Pirates Winter Leagues: Another Multi-Hit Game for Jesus Castillo

All of the Saturday action in winter ball was in Australia, as all of the other leagues took off for New Year’s Eve. All six Pittsburgh Pirates on the Sydney Blue Sox saw action.

Sammy Siani went 1-for-4 with a single, walk and run scored. He is hitting .283/.371/.543 in 27 games

Jase Bowen went 1-for-4 with his fourth double, a run scored and an RBI. He is hitting .241/.304/.386 in 23 games.

Ernny Ordonez went 1-for-4 with two RBIs. He is hitting .281/.330/.333 in 27 games.

Dylan Shockley went 0-for-3 with a walk and run scored. He is hitting .200/.307/.347 in 24 games.

Solomon Maguire went 0-for-3 with a walk, run scored and an RBI. He is hitting .246/.288/.333 in 21 games.

Jesus Castillo went 2-for-3 with a walk, run scored and an RBI. He is hitting .139/.227/.165 in 23 games. His OPS has improved 109 points in his last two games.

John started working at Pirates Prospects in 2009, but his connection to the Pittsburgh Pirates started exactly 100 years earlier when Dots Miller debuted for the 1909 World Series champions. John was born in Kearny, NJ, two blocks from the house where Dots Miller grew up. From that hometown hero connection came a love of Pirates history, as well as the sport of baseball.
