Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.
Oneil Cruz
There isn’t a better way to start a ball game, as Cruz hit a home run on the first pitch he saw out of the lead off spot. It is his second home run of the spring, and in true fashion, it seemed harmless at first when he made contact.

Travis Swaggerty
He’s been one of the most impressive players in spring so far, Swaggerty picked up a couple more hits on Friday, including his second home run.

Tsung-Che Cheng
The Pirates’ prospect picked up another hit and RBI for Chinese Taipei in their come from behind win against Italy. They are now 1-1 after losing to Panama in their opener. In two games, Cheng has four total hits.

Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
I’ve been impressed with Cruz this ST, by far the best thing so far, I don’t have the stats, but to my eyes his swing and missed has been substantially cut down, and it seems that his footwork and even throwing motion seem improved.
Love the Swag helmet! That ranks as one of my favorite replays on a HR, I think!
He needs a helmet that fits better. It pops off like every swing.
Can someone please get TSwag a batting helmet that fits?
And every time Cruz hits another HR his price tag for an extension gets bigger. Please Bob if you have any business sense whatsoever lock this man/alien up for the next 8+ years!
I am sure they have tied. I am also sure Oneil and his reps at Varner Sports are asking for the moon. If Oneil or his rep, I am definitely asking for the moon. No way will he take a deal like Hayes,
a deal was agreed to the day they rescued him from that motorcycle incident a few years ago
Agreed. His four arb years will be minimum $40 million if he hits. 4 free agent years at 30 million each plus an option would be the minimum I’m guessing. That’s $190 million and he might insist on much more. If the pirates won’t do it he will wait until he proves himself and then it will take Tatís money.
