Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.
Roansy Contreras
The Pirates had not one, but two pitchers throw in the Dominican Republic’s win over Israel in the WBC on Tuesday, with Roansy Contreras getting the start.

The righty pitched 2.1 innings, allowing the only hit the DR would surrender on the night, while striking out four.
Luis Ortiz
The hard throwing Ortiz was a late addition to the roster after Jarlin Garcia dropped out due to an injury. He came in later in the game and pitched two no-hit innings while striking out another three.

Mike Burrows
Burrows had a really strong camp with the major league team, being optioned after his latest performance on Tuesday. In two innings, the righty didn’t allow a walk while walking one and striking out three.
Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
WTF?? Why is Burrows only hitting 91-93mph?? He’s usually sits 94-96mph. I really hope nothing is wrong and he’s just ramping up.
A lot of bad swings and buckling knees there but that FB velo has me worried.
I remember some interviews I saw with Mike Burrows and he seems to have the mindset to go along with the physical talent. In those interviews he understood what he needs to do keep advancing to the ultimate level. Same with Quinn Priester. The minor league coaching staffs appear to be on the same page with these guys but I’m always concerned when Shelton and his staff get a hold of them.
Good competition for our guys in the WBC. Burrows certainly looks like he belongs with the big boys.
Prolific output, Murph. Busy man.
