Welcome to the Pirates Prospects daily video rundown, where we pull some of the top videos of the Pittsburgh Pirates across the internet.
Endy Rodriguez
It didn’t take for Endy Rodriguez to kick things off for the 2023 season. On the very first pitch he saw, the Pirates’ top prospect launched a two-run home run to give the Indianapolis Indians a 2-0 led.

Travis Swaggerty
One of the better performers in major league camp for the Pirates, Swaggerty also got off to a quick start, leading off the bottom of the first inning with a double. He would later score on the Rodriguez home run.

Nick Gonzales
The Pirates first round pick from 2020, Gonzales made the move up to Triple-A this year and picked up a couple of hits on Opening Day.

He would later add a double in the bottom of the ninth inning. He had batted balls with exit velocities of 105.2, 102.8, and 104 on the day.
Anthony began writing over 10 years ago, starting a personal blog to cover the 2011 MLB draft, where the Pirates selected first overall. After bouncing around many websites covering hockey, he refocused his attention to baseball, his first love when it comes to sports. He eventually found himself here at Pirates Prospects in late 2021, where he covers the team’s four full season minor league affiliates.
The ball was jumping off the bats…Nice to see
Hard not to like a report that has Travis Swaggerty, Endy Rodriguez, and Nick Gonzales being highlights. Mathias, Nunez, and Marcano also had good nights at the plate.
LL Ortiz only went 3.2, but did not allow a run and his number of pitches/strikes was decent at 58/35. Very inconsistent BP work after he left.
Marcano had that double, but he really stood out to me defensively at third. Can’t say I remember seeing him there before but I’m sure he has.
Rehabbing Stephenson gave up a run that was basically manufactured after a roller found a hole, but he was good. Bolton, after one (that I remembered) good outing in ST has looked mediocre and he was just that. There were two balls that were hit hard but caught, both line out one from Swaggerty caught by the 2b and one from Gonzales deep to RF.
