WTM’S PIRATE PLAYER PROFILES |
The Pirates signed Cornellisen as part of their newfound commitment to searching the globe for baseball talent. He was playing for a Dutch professional team coached by a scout working for the Pirates. He’s tall and lean, so the team probably hopes he’ll hit for some power at some point.
2009: Went to Australia, where MLB operates academy. Had serious trouble making contact. 2010: Made GCL roster. Split his time between first and outfield corners, the former probably due to injury to Michaelangel Trinidad. Again was obviously overmatched at plate. Cornellisen should return to the GCL in 2011. |
