WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Ross was drafted as a fifth year senior, already turning 23 years old before his final year. His late start comes from growing up in Japan, the son of a US Navy man and a Japanese mother. He came to the U.S. during high school and played football and baseball to help him fit in at school. He went to Fresno City College, but was injured for most of his time there. After that he pitched in a men’s league in Pennsylvania, where he was hitting 93 MPH. That led to him playing at Millersville University, where he put in two seasons, posting a 3.66 ERA in 46.2 innings, with 43 strikeouts and a .235 BAA.
2019 The Pirates sent Ross to the GCL, where he pitched in relief. He struggled against the younger hitters there, partly due to poor control. Ross apparently will be a project. |
