Jagoditsh didn’t pitch much in 2011, getting in only six games and throwing two innings for Pima CC. That’s the same school that produced Donald Veal. Jagoditsh has appeal due to his size, at 6′ 7″, 230 lbs. He didn’t play in 2011 until April, so it’s possible there was an injury involved. He signed shortly after the draft. His fastball has gotten as high as 95, but he’s had trouble staying healthy and finding the strike zone. He was throwing in the low-90s in camp in 2012 and 2013, and has a curve with good break.
2011 Got into half a dozen games, but struggled to throw strikes. The Pirates also appeared to be keeping his workload very light. In three of his six games, he failed to record an out. He allowed six hits and six walks total in 5.2 IP, although he did strike out eight. He went on the disabled list in late July and did not return. 2012 Jagoditsh stayed healthy enough to get into 15 games in relief. He obviously had a lot of trouble throwing strikes, although he didn’t get hit hard and managed to keep most of the runs off the board. Jagoditsh evidently impressed the Pirates in spring training, because he’ll move up to the West Virginia bullpen to open 2013. |
