Figueroa is a small outfielder who was already almost 21 when he debuted as a pro. He doesn’t have great speed, but has played more in center than anywhere else.
2013 Figueroa was 19 by his debut season. He had a solid year, hitting for average and some power, and drawing walks at a decent rate. He played a little center, but mostly in left. 2014 Figueroa was the primary center fielder at Bristol. He struggled at the plate, with a high K rate for a hitter with little power. The assignment was probably a little challenging, but his hitting didn’t improve over the course of the season. 2015 Figueroa returned to Bristol and served as the fourth outfielder, splitting his time more or less evenly among the three spots. He missed the last two weeks with an injury. He made significant progress at the plate, doubling his walk rate and hitting for fairly good power. Figueroa is coming off a good enough season that the Pirates could move him up to the West Virginia Power. He’ll open the 2016 season at 22, so it’d be good if he got out of short season ball. |
