WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Mepris is an infielder who was a little short of 18 when the Pirates signed him. He was not a prominent signee.
2016 Mepris had a solid first season, getting on base at a good rate without showing much power. His numbers were heavily based, though, on a pair of back-to-back four-hit games. With Rodolfo Castro at short, Mepris played primarily second, although he saw time at short and third as well. 2017 Mepris probably would have been the primary utility infielder in the GCL, but he missed half the season with an injury. When he played, he struggled to hit. In the field, he split his time between second and third. 2018 Mepris went to Bristol, where he divided the second base job with Chase Lambert and Dean Lockery. He also played a few games at third. He just held his own at the plate, drawing a good number of walks but showing no power. He did do very well as a base stealer. Mepris figures to be a utility infielder at the lower levels. |
