The Pirates signed Navarro at age 19 out of Mexico. He throws in the mid- to upper-80s, with a good curve and a change that needs work. For some reason, he is or was listed in various places as a RHP, included bb-ref and MiLB.com, but that’s him in the photo.
2013 Pitching in relief, Navarro didn’t get hit hard in his first season, but his walk and K rates were poor. 2014 Navarro pitched mainly as a starter in the GCL. He didn’t give up a lot of hits and cut down dramatically on walks, but missed almost no bats. He had some trouble with left-handed hitters, who reached base at a .386 clip against him, compared to .223 by right-handed hitters. 2015 Navarro returned to the GCL, where he made three starts and four relief appearances. He showed improvement, especially in the form of a much higher K rate. He didn’t appear after the end of July, though, presumably due to injury. |
