| Taschner is coming off a down year with the Philadelphia Phillies in which he posted a 4.91 ERA in 29.1 innings, with a 5.8 K/9 and a 6.1 BB/9. Taschner’s ERAs in 2007 and 2008 with San Francisco didn’t look much better, but his ratios were much better than the 2009 campaign. In his career, Taschner is a bit worse against left handers than he is against right handers, with a .293 BAA and a .774 OPS against lefties, compared to a .261 BAA and a .791 OPS against right handers.
His best year against right handers came in 2007, when he posted a .176 BAA and a .584 OPS in 108 at-bats. In 2006 he posted a .275 BAA and a .593 OPS in 40 at-bats against left handers, and in 2008 he posted a .279 BAA and a .733 OPS in 104 at-bats against left handers. He’s yet to have a LOOGY like season against left handers, and only has one really good year against right handers. He seems to be of the same quality as Phil Dumatrait. |
