WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE
The Pirates drafted Glenn as a fifth-year senior, so he was already 23 at draft time.  They probably made the pick to save slot money for the high-ceiling picks they made in rounds 2-3.  He was, though, one of the better college seniors in the draft.  The Pirates announced Glenn as a third baseman, which is where he played in 2020, but he played second in 2021 and may be a better fit there.  He has good range, but his arm may not play on the left side of the infield.  Glenn put up some impressive numbers with the bat in 2021, with a 366/438/732 line, including 21 home runs.  He showed a good eye, with 32 walks and 33 strikeouts in 272 plate appearances.  A lot will depend on how much or little his hitting resulted from him being older than most other college players.  Glenn signed for $12,500, far under the slot value of $422,300, giving the Pirates considerable savings to use in trying to sign players to above-slot money.

2021
R:  400/500/800, 5 AB, 2 2B, 1 BB, 1 K
A:  337/452/475, 101 AB, 12 2B, 1 3B, 22 BB, 21 K, 1-2 SB

Glenn played in two games in the FCL, then moved up to Bradenton.  He played mostly second, but got into a few games at third.  He hit well, with very good plate discipline and good doubles power.  He torched LHPs for a 1.307 OPS in very limited chances.

2022
A+:  216/297/328, 287 AB, 16 2B, 2 3B, 4 HR, 29 BB, 86 K, 11-12 SB

Splitting his time between second and third, Glenn had a very disappointing season.  He got off to a good start in April, then hit a severe slump in May, posting just a .347 OPS.  After a very good month in June, he struggled the rest of the way.  Like so many of the team’s hitting prospects, making contact was a big issue; he struck out in 27% of his plate appearances.  He had a rough time against LHPs in particular, posting a .594 OPS against them.

Glenn didn’t seem ready for AA and will return to Greensboro.
