WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE

Snider hasn’t shown much power in his time with Louisville, combining for an .092 ISO in his three years in school. He has shown a good ability to get on base, with a .398 OBP in his career, and .384 this year. He’s done a good job of controlling the strike zone, drawing double-digit walk rates and keeping the strikeouts below 20%. He does have a short, compact swing with upward angle out in front of the plate, so there could be hope for some power with an adjustment. He did recently come up big with a home run in the NCAA regionals, and has the nickname “Postseason Jake” in Louisville due to similar big play in the past.  Snider signed four weeks after the draft, as his team was in the College World Series.

2019
R+:  300/429/375, 80 AB, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HR, 17 BB, 18 K, 3-4 SB

Snider went to Bristol and played left field exclusively.  His playing time was limited by the late signing, a minor injury in his first game, and the outfield logjam at Bristol.  His hitting was as advertised; he hit for average, drew a lot of walks and showed just limited power.

The lack of power obviously limits Snider’s ceiling, but he could move quickly through the system if his on-base skills hold up.
