Ramos pitched as a starter in the DSL and did well without dominating.

In the FCL, Ramos pitched strictly in relief, although he didn’t get started until mid-July.  He probably didn’t pitch as well as the ERA indicates, as eight of the 13 runs he allowed were unearned.

R:  1-0-1, 1.23 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 14.2 IP, 1.8 BB/9, 11.0 K/9

The Pirates sent Ramos back to the FCL, where he pitched only sporadically, appearing in ten games.  When he did pitch, he had little trouble getting hitters out.  Right-handed hitters had just a .346 OPS against him.

It’s not clear why Ramos hasn’t gotten further; he’s eligible for Rule 5 after one more year.  He may be a victim of the Pirates’ belief that getting game time at the lower levels isn’t important.
