2010
A-:  293/348/373, 225 AB, 12 2B, 3 3B, 18 BB, 31 K, 3-4 SB

Brown was the primary thirdbaseman at State College, and also saw some time at second and a small amount at short.  His walk total wasn’t nearly as high as in college, but Brown made contact consistently and was one of the few Spikes who hit well late in the season.  He had only three errors in forty games at third, and none in fourteen games at second and short.

2011
A+:  262/299/315, 260 AB, 10 2B, 2 3B, 14 BB, 35 K, 4-5 SB

The Pirates jumped Brown up to Bradenton to serve as the utility infielder.  He ended up playing almost regularly the last two months due to injuries and the trade of Aaron Baker.  His hitting was marginal, which isn’t too bad considering the level jump.  He didn’t hit for any power at all and a probable consequence was that his walk rate dropped to one every twenty plate appearances.  With Jarek Cunningham hurt, Brown got about half his playing time at second.  He also backed up the two Gonzalezes at short and third, and played a few games each in the outfield corners and at first.  He had trouble with errors at short–11 in 20 games–but otherwise was solid.

2012
AA:  290/369/391, 138 AB, 6 2B, 1 3B, 2 HR, 13 BB, 23 K, 3-5 SB

Brown spent the season as a utility player at Altoona, dividing his time between second, third and short.  He got some playing time early in the season due to injuries and got very hot, batting .395 in May, which led to more playing time.  He cooled off after that, though, and played only sparingly in the second half.

2013
AA:  192/286/221, 104 AB, 3 2B, 12 BB, 26 K, 4-5 SB

Brown returned to Altoona, where he got a little less playing time than in 2012.  He didn’t repeat the previous year’s success.  Brown played all four infield positions and also pitched an inning.

2014
AA:  295/321/333, 129 AB, 3 2B, 1 3B, 4 BB, 18 K, 3-5 SB

Brown returned to Altoona as a utility player.  After spending most of the first two months inactive, he saw time at first, second and third, and a little in the outfield.  He hit well this time, indicative of the ups and downs of the bench player.

2015
AAA:  222/300/296, 27 AB, 2 2B, 2 BB, 4 K

Brown played only very sparingly for Indianapolis, filling in at various positions when there was a need.  His appearances were sometimes a month or more apart.

Brown won’t be eligible for minor league free agency for another year, so he’ll probably return as an upper-level utility player.
