Campos isn’t a big guy and turned 20 late in his first season. He didn’t pitch well in his second season and hasn’t fanned many batters, so he’s got a ways to go to establish himself as a prospect. He throws in the upper-80s, topping out around 90.
2010 Campos pitched well in his debut, allowing only 19 hits in 29 innings, but with a low K rate. 2011 In his second year, Campos was one of the primary pitchers on the Pirates’ VSL entry, but he put up poor numbers across the board. They included more walks than Ks. 2012 Campos pitched in relief in the GCL. His numbers were mediocre, except for good control. 2013 Campos returned to the GCL and, apart from an improved K rate, took a step backward. If Campos is back in 2014, it’ll probably be in the GCL. |
