WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE |
Garcia was a lower-profile signing out of Mexico at age 18. He’s not a hard thrower.
2018 Pitching in a swing role, Garcia put up good numbers in his debut. 2019 Despite his good debut, the Pirates sent Garcia back to the DSL to open the 2019 season. He continued to get good results, including a much higher K rate, and at the beginning of July they moved him up to the Gulf Coast League. He made 11 appearances there, including five starts, and had a lot more trouble, including control problems and a much lower K rate. The Pirates must like Garcia fairly well or they wouldn’t have given him some starts in the GCL. He doesn’t have overpowering stuff and may not have a lot of projection. |
