Frawley was the best pitcher for Purdue in 2016, posting a 2.78 ERA in 74.1 innings, with a 58:27 K:BB ratio. That was a big improvement over 2015, when he had a 4.55 ERA in 55.1 innings, with a 33:23 K:BB ratio (which also happened to make him the best starter on the team). He can throw 94 MPH, although he doesn’t have a tall, projectable frame like most Pirate pitchers. He also throws a curveball for his strikeout pitch.
2016 Frawley pitched out of the Morgantown bullpen. He pitched better than his ERA indicates, with a high K rate. He was especially tough on left-handed batters, holding them to a .491 OPS, as opposed to .722 against right-handed hitters. The Pirates moved him up to West Virginia for one appearance at the end of the season. Frawley’s will open 2017 in the West Virginia bullpen. |
