WTM’s PLAYER PROFILE
Jimenez throws a cutter and sinker in the low-90s with good movement, and he also throws a slider that has good, late break.  He’s had considerable trouble throwing strikes.

2016
DSL:  2-4-0, 6.33 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, 21.1 IP, 8.0 BB/9, 9.3 K/9

Jimenez pitched out of the bullpen in the DSL and struggled with the strike zone.  He did at least have a good K rate.

2017
DSL:  2-2-1, 8.59 ERA, 2.00 WHIP, 22.0 IP, 9.8 BB/9, 11.0 K/9

Back in the DSL bullpen, Jimenez had pretty much the same season, unable to throw strikes but at least striking out a lot of hitters.

2018
R:  1-5-2, 6.49 ERA, 1.59 WHIP, 34.2 IP, 5.5 BB/9, 9.1 K/9

Despite his control problems, the Pirates brought Jimenez to the GCL for 2018.  He started five games and relieved in seven, although he made it to four innings just twice and five just once.  He showed he can miss bats, but the command isn’t there yet.

Jimenez has very good stuff, especially for a lefty, but he’s going to have to make progress with his command issues.  If he does, he could get at least to full-season ball quickly.
