2011 ZiPS projections

I’m a few days late on this, but Dan Szymborski released the 2011 ZiPS projections for Pirates players on Sunday. There is nothing all that earth-shattering in the projections, but there are some certainly a few interesting things to note.

With Pedro Alvarez knocking on the door, it is easy for us as fans to get caught up in the excitement of these potential tides of change. But it is important to keep our expectations reasonable.

Eveland to the bullpen

Clement to AAA; Tabata and Lincoln joining the Pirates

The Pirates designated reliever Jack Taschner for assignment tonight, and optioned Jeff Clement to Triple-A Indianapolis. Taschner will be replaced by Brad Lincoln, but the second roster move will not be announced until Wednesday. There are unconfirmed rumblings that Jose Tabata will be the one promoted to Pittsburgh.

Huntington: Lincoln a candidate to make his debut on Wednesday

A few minutes ago on his weekly radio show, Neal Huntington stated that Brad Lincoln is definitely a candidate to make his major league debut on Wednesday night. Huntington would not confirm either way.
